Hungary stresses that peace requires action, not only words at Security Council debate on conflict prevention

On 10 January 2017, the Security Council – on the initiative of Sweden - held a ministerial-level open debate on conflict prevention and sustaining peace. Ambassador Katalin Bogyay spoke at the event and thanked Secretary-General Guterres for resolving already on his first day in office to “put peace first”.

Diplomatic Connection Magazine visits the Permanent Mission of Hungary to the UN and features Permanent Representative of Hungary Ambassador Katalin Bogyay in its January- February 2017 issue

The well-known business, diplomacy and foreign policy publication held its annual New York reception at the Permanent Mission of Hungary. Ambassador Bogyay hosted the event which provided an opportunity for making new connections between the business and diplomatic communities of New York. The Ambassador was interviewed by James A. Security Council Open Debate on Trafficking in Persons in Conflict Situations

On October 25, 2016, Ambassador Katalin Bogyay, Permanent Representative of Hungary to the UN, addressed the Security Council at the Open Debate on Trafficking in Persons in Conflict Situations. Security Council Open Debate on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction

On 15 December 2016, Ambassador Katalin Bogyay, Permanent Representative of Hungary to the UN, addressed the Security Council at the Open Debate on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. In her statement, Ambassador Bogyay underlined Hungary’s long-standing commitment in the field of non-proliferation, and in the fight against terrorism. She welcomed the unanimous adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2325 (which Hungary co-sponsored as well) in this regard.

Historic panel discussion honoring Povl Bang-Jensen, the Danish hero of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution

H.E. Ambassador Katalin Bogyay hosted a historic panel discussion to honor the memory of Povl Bang-Jensen, the Danish hero who saved many Hungarian lives following the Revolution. Before the event, the Danish and Hungarian ambassadors and the panelists visited the rooftop of the UN Secretariat building where Bang-Jensen burned the list of secret witnesses in 1958.

Water Connects – Budapest Water Summit 2016

From 28 to 30 November 2016 the Government of Hungary, in cooperation with the World Water Council, successfully organized the Budapest Water Summit 2016 to give momentum to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to water.
During the three-day conference Heads of State and Government, Ministers, high-level representatives of international organizations, business, the scientific community and civil society have gathered in Budapest, Hungary to promote the practical implementation of water-related objectives in the SDGs and the Paris Agreement. The event provided an opportunity to highlight that water connects, it does not divide.
