H.E. Ambassador Katalin Bogyay, Permanent Representative of Hungary introduced Dr. Miklós Szócska, Hungarian candidate for the position of Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) during a two-day campaign trip in New York.

The first step of the election process will take place on 24-25 January 2017 in Geneva, when the 36 Member States of the WHO Executive Board will select 5 from the currently 6 candidates for a professional interview. Based on the results of the interviews the best 3 candidates will be shortlisted and 194 Member States of WHO’s World Health Assembly will vote to select the future Director General in May 2017 in Geneva.
